Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, fabrication, and evaluation of materials-enabled device structures, including batteries, photovoltaics, advanced packaging, or related platforms
  • Develop and execute experiments to understand relationships among material composition, processing conditions, device architecture, and performance
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers across materials, chemistry, physics, modeling, process development, and manufacturing to integrate materials into functional devices
  • Define and measure key device performance metrics, reliability indicators, and materials characterization outputs needed to guide development decisions
  • Document technical work, present findings to stakeholders, and contribute to intellectual property

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline, with 2+ years of relevant industrial experience
  • Strong expertise in materials science, including structure-property relationships, material processing, and characterization
  • Hands-on experience integrating materials into functional devices or test vehicles, with exposure to device fabrication, assembly, evaluation, and failure analysis
  • Working knowledge of materials and device characterization methods such as microscopy, spectroscopy, electrical testing, electrochemical testing, thermal analysis, mechanical testing, or reliability testing
  • Experience with batteries, photovoltaics, advanced packaging, or similar materials-enabled device technologies
  • Strong data analysis, technical writing, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and business audiences

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Familiarity with scale-up considerations, manufacturability, reliability, and performance tradeoffs for materials-based device technologies
  • Knowledge of advanced materials processing, coating, joining, packaging, encapsulation, or interface engineering methods
  • Experience using statistical analysis, design of experiments, modeling, or data analytics to accelerate materials and device development
  • Patent, publication, external collaboration, or industry benchmarking experience in relevant materials or device technology areas
  • Ability to contribute in cross-functional project teams and communicate technical results clearly to both expert and non-expert audiences

The range for this position is $104,733.00 - $144,008.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
