As our intern, you will be involved with Corning’s Environmental Technologies (CET) segment which manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.


The purpose of our Intern Program is to raise the bar on talent by strengthening our pipeline for entry level roles for our immediate and future needs.


To be considered for an internship at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

Our summer intern position will support a new materials and processes research team. Our projects will include analysis of novel antimicrobial materials and mechanical testing of ultra-hard and ultra-tough materials. In this role you will be to complete project work in these areas and summarize findings in a presentation and/or report by the end the of the internship.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Perform experiments and summarize findings on novel materials
  • Routinely collaborate with multiple individuals in various labs
  • Participate in bi-weekly team meetings with rotating presentations among team members.


Travel requirements (please note if international): No travel.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Flexible work schedule with 8-5 as preferred hours.
  • Duration: Summer 2021, 8-12 weeks

Education and Experience:

  • Applicant should be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a scientific field of study such as chemistry, engineering, or a health related major.


Required Skills:

  • Basic computing skills, e.g. proficiency in excel, PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, mathematics, and physics


Desired Skills:

  • Basic familiarity with materials science


Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated worker showing leadership skills.
