Role Purpose
The Laboratory Computer Technician will install, maintain and repair laboratory computer data acquisition systems and networks. The technician must be well-versed in computer systems and network functions. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of desktop and laptop operating systems, routinely thinks outside the box to solve problems quickly and will provide excellent customer service. The candidate will provide technical assistance and troubleshooting skills for computer systems as well as answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or from remote location. This role is essential to the maintenance and continuity of critical research and engineering processes and projects across the Sullivan Park campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers on laboratory computer systems
- Maintain and repair computer systems connected to data acquisition systems and lab instruments.
- Provide technical assistance and resolution as necessary
- Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
- Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
- Troubleshoot system local and group policy issues in Microsoft Active Directory
- Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and mend inefficiencies
- Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
- Ensure that Internet security software is updated and running properly
- Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from cyber attacks
- Test and implement new software programs for the company

Experiences/Education - Required
- AS degree in Computer Repair, or relevant field
- 3+ years’ experience as computer technician or similar role
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems
- Excellent PC troubleshooting skills
- Able to read and understand technical manuals
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects effectively
- Experience with LAN/WAN networks
- Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
Desired Skills
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+) will be an advantage
- MS Active Directory management
- Computer hardware and data acquisition systems interfacing skills.
- Knowledge of patch management and security management tools

The range for this position is $58,932.00 - $81,032.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
