The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

Purpose of the Position:

  • Develop deep understanding of the semiconductor industry roadmap, with focus on advanced node lithography and associated mask & wafer inspection tools
  • Provide relevant insights for Product Line Plans, Business Technology Strategy, and identify macro trends influencing semiconductor tools long-term forecast
  • Connect broadly with the semiconductor industry experts and promote Advanced Optics technical capabilities
  • Identify new opportunities to support Optical Material Technologies (OMT) business growth

 

Deliverables:

  • At least twice a year, deliver curated view of the semiconductor industry roadmap, including:
    • Timeline for the deployment of last process nodes (5nm and beyond)
    • Updated view on transistor technology developments (FinFET, GAA, CFET, …) and plans for introduction
    • Key applications driving the pace of new node implementation (Phone APU, HPC, …)
    • New wafer inspection tools and potential technical gaps o Implications for AO/OMT in terms of process steps and mix between KrF, ArF, and EUV
  • Tripwires identifying critical milestones enabling the full deployment of last node technologies to include: enabling technologies such as lithography sources, mask technology (Pellicle, …)
  • Summary of key learning from key conferences such as SPIE EUV, SPIE Inspection, VLSI, and IEDM
  • Summary of IDRS roadmap updates

 

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Engage with outside semiconductor process experts through direct interactions in technical conferences and customer visits
  • Support commercial group with key account engagements
  • Author technical papers and promote Cornig Advanced Optics capabilities in technical conferences/journals
  • Articulate unmet needs in the industry and potential opportunities for AO
  • Summarize and communicate findings to the Leadership Team Performance
  • Metrics:
    • Quality and impact of technical reports
    • Depth and frequency of interactions with customers
    • New findings directly impacting Product Line Plans
    • Number of external publications
    • New projects initiated and potential financial impact

 

Travel Requirements: Up to 30% - Both domestically and internationally.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or Material Sciences
  • 5 years of direct experience in CMOS fab with deep understanding of front-end semiconductor processes
  • Track record of process development or improvement, published in conferences or journals

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong technical acumen.
  • Technical Expertise and knowledge in the modern semiconductor processes arena.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in easy-to-understand business terms.
  • Comfortable interacting with technical end users
