Scope of Position:

The daily operation of an engine dynamometer or burner rig for the purpose of testing aftertreatment products to support of the daily operational needs of the test facility.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Operate an engine dynamometer or burner rig to a test plan
  • Conduct related maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and housekeeping
  • Conduct first pass data analysis using Excel and MATLAB, and maintain accurate and complete records
  • Prepare articles for testing, and conduct bench analysis of articles before, during, and after testing (nebulizer, ultrasound, microscope, etc.)

 

Hours of Work:

  • Normally 12.25hr shifts, 3-4 days/wk, one of which is a Saturday or Sunday. 7pm-7am
  • Overtime is frequently available
  • Flexibility is desired

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • 2-year technical degree
  • 3 years previous technical experience in technician, data processing, electrical, etc. positions
  • General PC skills, and specifically Microsoft Excel skills for the purposes of data analysis and lab operations
  • Ability to work independently: plan, multi-task, maintain focus, and make sound decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills: mechanical, electrical, computer, and process
  • Hands on skills: mechanical, electrical, computer

 

Desired Skills:

  • Hands on laboratory or test cell experience 
  • Experience with the specialized equipment in this lab: PUMA test automation software, engine management software, internal combustion engines, emissions instruments, etc
  • Controls skills: sensors, automation, scripting, networking/communication, etc
  •  Technically curious
  • Organized and rigorous

 

Soft Skills:

  • Team building and communication skills to ensure seamless shift hand-among colleagues

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Possible infrequent travel to support mobile emissions testing

 

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.  

 

The range for this position is  $59,530.00   -  $81,855.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
