Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group): (1) Daily operation on engine dynamometer or burner rig for the purpose of testing aftertreatment products (2) Support of the daily operational needs of the test facility  

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

(1) Operate an engine dynamometer or burner rig to a test plan

(2) Conduct related maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and housekeeping

(3) Conduct first pass data analysis using Excel and MATLAB, and maintain accurate and complete records

(4) Prepare articles for testing, and conduct bench analysis of articles before, during, and after testing (nebulizer, ultrasound, microscope, etc.)  

 

Travel Requirements (please note if international): Possible infrequent travel to support moble emissions testing.  

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Normally 12.25hr shifts, 3-4 days/wk, one of which is a Saturday or Sunday. 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am. Overtime is frequently available. Flexibility is desired escpecally with working 7pm-7am shift on a long term basis.  

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

2-yr technical degree. 3yrs technical experience. Hands on laboratory or test cell experience is desired  

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

(1) General PC skills, and specifically Microsoft Excel skills for the purposes of data analysis and lab operations

 (2) Ability to work independently: plan, multi-task, maintain focus, and make sound decisions in ambiguous situations

(3) Strong troubleshooting skills: mechanical, electrical, computer, and process

(4) Hands on skills: mechanical, electrical, computer

(5) Time management between multiple rig operation and test part preparation  

 

Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

(1) Experience with the specialized equipment in this lab: PUMA test automation software, engine management software, internal combustion engines, emissions instruments, etc.

(2) Controls skills: sensors, automation, scripting, networking/communication, etc.

(3) Technically curious

(4) Organized and rigorous
