Equipment Supervisor

Purpose of the Position:

•    Lead equipment introduction and industrialization activities for new products, new production lines, and capacity expansion projects.
•    Responsible for equipment sourcing, specification definition, design review, FAT/SAT, installation, qualification, ramp-up and transfer to production.
•    Drive automation, digitalization and manufacturing technology development to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives while ensuring successful project execution and manufacturing readiness.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Equipment Introduction & Project Management
•    Lead equipment introduction projects from concept phase through mass production. 
•    Define equipment specifications, URS and technical requirements together with process, quality and production teams. 
•    Manage equipment suppliers and coordinate equipment development, fabrication, FAT, SAT and acceptance activities. 
•    Drive equipment installation, commissioning, qualification and production release according to project schedules. 
•    Lead production line setup, expansion, relocation and manufacturing transfer projects. 
•    Ensure equipment capability meets production, process and quality requirements through validation activities.
NPI & Manufacturing Readiness
•    Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure manufacturing readiness for new products. 
•    Collaborate with Process Engineering to establish equipment parameters, process windows and control plans. 
•    Participate in PFMEA, process validation and pilot production activities. 
•    Drive yield improvement and process stability during product ramp-up stages.
Automation & Technology Development
•    Identify automation opportunities and lead automation improvement projects.
•    Support development of fixture, tooling, vision inspection and semi/full automation solutions.
•    Promote digital manufacturing initiatives including MES integration, data collection and equipment connectivity.
•    Drive Industry 4.0 related improvement activities.
Equipment Qualification & Reliability
•    Develop equipment qualification protocols including IQ/OQ/PQ.
•    Establish equipment standards and technical documents.
•    Ensure equipment capability, repeatability and reliability meet manufacturing requirements.
•    Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment-related issues during project and ramp-up phases.
Team & Technical Leadership
•    Lead and develop equipment team.
•    Provide technical coaching and project leadership.
•    Build technical competency in equipment engineering, automation and manufacturing technology.
EHS & Compliance
•    Ensure all introduced equipment complies with Corning EHS requirements, machine safety standards and regulatory requirements.
•    Conduct equipment risk assessments and safety reviews before production release.
•    Support ISO9001, ISO14001 and company compliance requirements.

Education & Experience  

•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
•    Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, manufacturing engineering, or automation support in a manufacturing environment.
•    Prior team supervision or technician management experience is preferred.
•    Experience in electronics, optical communication, semiconductor, precision manufacturing, or high-tech manufacturing industries is preferred.
•    Experience in new equipment introduction, equipment transfer, line setup, or NPI support is preferred.
•    Experience working with equipment suppliers and managing equipment development projects.

 

Required Skills                                                

•    Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment development and industrialization processes. 
•    Experience in equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
•    Familiar with equipment specification development and supplier management.
•    Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•    Familiar with PLC control and automation equipment; experience with Siemens / Mitsubishi / Omron or equivalent is preferred.
•    Familiar with statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, 5 Why, FMEA). 
•    Good understanding of manufacturing process validation and quality control requirements
•    Good written and oral English communication.
