Role Purpose
1) Provides subject matter expertise in engineering that improves product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality and service) and/or advances the innovation process to enable the delivery of new products.
2) Provides solutions for increased process selects, increased material utilization, decreased costs, and improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects.
3) Is a leader in obtaining fundamental process understanding and meeting the lowest cost producer objectives.
4) Designs and analyses first generation / next generation products, processes and/or equipment in support of a new product / technology introduction.
5) Maintains knowledge of the latest developments in their area of expertise in order to identify and document any intellectual property developed as part of a project
Key Responsibilities
1) Provides leadership in problem solving, and technical expertise, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process and equipment issues, and higher level troubleshooting
2) Provides direction to other technicians / engineers, coaches junior engineers, and provides guidance to maintenance personnel
3) Provides general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals), and capable of leading projects to get to root cause of issues, and put permanent solutions in place
4) Provides disciplined project leadership across multiple stages of innovation for new product, process, cost reduction and capacity improvement initiatives
5) Recommends and implements permanent solutions to long term performance issues, and improves existing and new technologies and processes
6) Develops and leads some areas of the manufacturing and/or technical roadmap. Documents material, process and/or equipment to protect and contribute to Intellectual Property improvements
7) Proficient in use of statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem solving and process/product improvement
8) Identifies, justifies, and implements cost reduction, capacity enhancement, capital equipment and other improvement initiatives
9) Introduces new products and technologies
10) Tracks the effectiveness of projects and implemented cost reductions, using up-time, cost, productivity, and other appropriate measures
11) Other tasks supervisor assigned
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in technical field
- Project leadership (scope to implementation)
- Above 10 years’ relevant working experience in optical communications industry and familiar with CAB, PNP, etc.
- Be familiar with GR-326, GR-1435, GR-1209, GR1221 reliability test standard
Competencies Required
- Good commanding on CAB,PNP design
- Effective, high quality oral and written communication skills with English
- Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner
- Excellent computer skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office)
- Customer oriented; meets customer needs with quality results
- Ability to build effective working relationships with others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities tasks
