THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION IS:
Directs and supports Manufacturing Associates in daily production activities to ensure smooth product flow and successful execution of production orders. Provides troubleshooting for basic equipment faults and works with technicians and engineering as appropriate. Leads machine training and completes training assessments for sign offs, conducts documents training, ensures compliance with established procedures, maintains line process documentation, and coordinates product and associate scheduling with other area leads, manufacturing leads, engineering, and supervisors.
This position includes significant duties such as:
- Operates each piece of line equipment, rotation operation duties in accordance with shift schedule, to include but not limited to: monitoring output quality/quantity; troubleshooting; making necessary (basic) machine/parameters adjustments where applicable; alleviating minor jams on production line and auxiliary equipment, including injection molding machines, etc.
- Balances time on the production line between production needs and Area Lead.
- Interfaces with operations team leadership communicating key production issues of their line to the team.
- Directs the prioritization of production activities for assigned work area, including resource allocation and accounting for daily staffing numbers at Shift Start-up Meetings.
- Monitors team performance to ensure line performance, compliance to work instructions, the quality plan, and plant-wide policy requirements.
- Provides and coordinates the training of associates in their assigned area(s) ensuring timely and accurate training documentation. Assesses trainees to ensure standard of training is met.
- Ensures process documentation accuracy, completion, and dissemination to appropriate resources in an effort to ensure expedient flow of process records.
- Provides end of shift reporting as needed.
- Perform and coach others in daily housekeeping, waste removal and end-of-lot line clearance duties.
- Ensure production records and work orders are complete through using and coaching others in Apriso and EtQ.
- Proactively works to anticipate problems before they impact production.
- Ensures that Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are supported, i.e., 20 Keys, 5-S, etc., ensuring overall organization and housekeeping of assigned area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Disagreeable working conditions. Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including but not limited to lab coats, hair/beard covers, shoe covers, gloves, ear protection, eye protection and head coverings. Exposure to fumes and chemicals such as cleaners, inks, and solvents. Exposure to high frequency noise. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and up to 65 pounds occasionally.
Education:
- HS Diploma or GED required
Experience:
- 1-3 years manufacturing experience, preferably in a GMP environment
- Prefer proven technical expertise on Corning equipment in assigned department
The range for this position is $24.50 hourly rate - $28.88 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
