The primary purpose of this position is:

Operates and maintains the sterilizer according to company policies and regulatory guidelines. Assists in product material handling, segregation, and distribution. Serves as the leader on shift, for the assigned sterilization team – working with all necessary business partners.

 

 

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Safely conducts operation of irradiator, internal/external conveyors, and all associated equipment.
  • Provides technical direction to Material Handlers for performance of equipment operation and error recovery.
  • Maintains daily operations log for assigned sterilizer.
  • Assists with the monitoring, detecting, assessing, and responding to unauthorized entry of Controlled, Restricted, and Secure areas of the facility on off hours.
  • Assists in training identified personnel to qualify as Powered Industrial Truck operators.
  • Diagnoses/Corrects sterilizer equipment malfunction and completes timely repair to minimize downtime.
  • Oversees the compliance of safety requirements by visitors and nondepartmental personnel.
  • Operates and maintains all types of radiation monitoring equipment, specifically dosimeters and survey meters.
  • Maintains compliance with established government and company safety regulations, environmental and emergency procedures, and Quality System Requirements.
  • In the event of an emergency on off hours, works with outside agencies (e.g., Security team, Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, etc.) responding to any Sterilizer alarms.
  • Performs special projects in the Sterilization Operations Department, or other departments as required.
  • Adheres to plant safety requirements, OSHA and QSR/GMP/ISO guidelines as applicable.
  • Perform and coach others in daily waste removal and other general housekeeping duties.
  • Ensure production records and work orders are complete through using and coaching others in Camstar, PeopleSoft, and EtQ. Ensures that Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are supported (5S, Kaizens, etc.) ensuring overall organization and housekeeping of assigned area.
  • May be required to pass additional background screenings for Trustworthiness and Reliability, as defined by the U.S.NRC Title 10, CFR Part 37.5
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Disagreeable working conditions.
  • Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including but not limited to gloves, ear protection, eye protection, steel/ composite toe leather safety shoes, and high visibility vests/ gear.
  • Exposure to fumes and chemicals such as cleaners, inks, solvents, and highpowered magnets.
  • Exposure to ionizing radiation, monitored with wearable dosimeters.
  • Exposure to high frequency noise.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and up to 65 pounds occasionally.

 

 

Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Associates Degree in a technical field preferred

 

 

Experience: 

 

  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience, preferably in a GMP environment
  • Lead experience within production or task teams required
  • Experience working with automation equipment required
  • Experience troubleshooting automation equipment preferred

 

 

The range for this position is ​$29.50 hourly rate - $34.25 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
