Scope of Position:

• Applies sound engineering principles to solve complex process controls problems on Pharmaceutical glass packaging.

• Leads high value projects with cross functional teams to develop and transfer new process control systems to manufacturing.

• Develops strategies for improvements as needed to meet objectives.

• Leverages external suppliers and machine builders to support capital projects in support of division objectives.

• Works closely with internal and external experts to develop process controls solutions that reduce process variability and increase yields.

• Works with IT and Data Systems team to establish systems that provide world class data architectures

• Provides project expansion and manufacturing support on an as needed basis.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Lead process controls projects to design, develop, deploy, and support technologies into manufacturing

• Provide critical input for department technical strategy portfolio

• Interface with manufacturing, development, and other technology groups to align portfolios and project work streams

• Identify and work to tie the converting process technology roadmap into a process controls technology roadmap and plan.

• Change management and control of all technologies within process controls

• Coordinate transfer of technology for new systems to domestic and international manufacturing sites

• Benchmark CPT process controls system to industry standards and business performance standards.

• Provide remote and onsite technical troubleshooting of installed systems.


Required Education:

• B.S. – M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant program


Required Skills:

• Experienced Technology Leader, preferably in the Process Controls Field

5+ years leadership experience

• Working knowledge of Siemens PLCs, Servo drives, SQL databases

• Experience managing a broad project portfolio

• Familiarity with model predictive control systems

• Applies good engineering practices with appropriate considerations for controls systems architectures.

• Applies appropriate analysis tools such as PPA, DA, FMEA, and other more specific engineering tools to make the right risk-based decision.

• Good project management skills with the ability to plan upfront, develop a reasonable schedule, track progress to schedule, react appropriately to problems, raise issues or concerns to stakeholders as required to remove roadblocks, and meet the overall project goals on time within budget.


Desired Skills:

• Significant data collection experience using databases and OPC servers.

• Significant experience developing and implementing model predictive controllers in an industrial setting


Soft Skills:

• Able to lead and influence others (suppliers, commercial partners etc).

• Able to work within a cross functional multidiscipline team of varying skills and experience levels with a willingness to provide and receive direction.

• Bring a “Can-do” attitude even when supporting vague or loosely defined objectives of a new youthful business.

• Organized hard worker that acts with urgency to complete a task.

• Confident presentation skills with the ability to tailor messages to the audience.

• Knows when and what to communicate throughout the life of a project with clear concise wording.

• Uses illustrations well to communicate across technical and cultural boundaries.


Travel Requirements:

•  30% possible, including international and domestic.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

• 40 hours, Monday – Friday; weekend support as required to support objectives; off-hours meetings and e-mails as needed.
