The purpose of this position: HVAC Apprentice role is to provide HVAC support to the facility while assisting in the analyzation, repair/replacement of parts and troubleshooting HVAC issues as needed. This role will have some ownership of the site HVAC systems while continuing personal development and technical knowledge of industrial HVAC systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Chilled Water, HVAC systems, Air compressors, Fire Pumps, Potable Water and Vacuum systems.
• Work alongside experienced technicians to minimize equipment downtime and process interruptions.
• Support the site in maintaining facility systems regulatory and environmental compliance.
• Learn to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for various systems.
• Assist in maintaining records, interpreting diagrams, blueprints, and other related drawings.
• Support facilities projects alongside trades/contractors on the construction, testing, installation, and debugging of equipment.
• Understand and adhere to safety regulations and company guidelines.
• Learn to use computer systems including CMMS, Word, and Excel spreadsheets.
• Use hand tools and/or power tools while troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance (PM), or repairing equipment, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
• Supports site RO water systems.
• Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
• Participate in on-the-job training and other educational opportunities to expand knowledge of facilities systems and techniques.
• Completes production records / forms recording relevant data onto forms or via electronic data entry in Maximo or other systems.
• Ensures accuracy and good documentation practices per company and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

Working Conditions: 

• Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including, but not limited to, lab coats, hair/beard covers, gloves, ear protection, eye protection, safety shoes etc.
• Exposure to fumes and chemicals such as cleaners, inks, and solvents.
• Exposure to high frequency noise.
• Exposure to voltages from 24-480.
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and up to 65 pounds rarely.

Education/Experience: 

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
• Interest in and basic understanding of HVAC, Compressors, Chiller systems is a plus.
• Basic understanding of PLCs and PLC logic would be beneficial.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources.

The range for this position is ​$24.50 hourly rate - $28.88 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
