The purpose of this position is:

  • Performs routine and emergency maintenance on high-speed automated manufacturing and production support equipment.
  • Performs various process improvements of machines and equipment
  • Participates in troubleshooting, process improvement, and new equipment installation that vary in complexity.

Education: 

  • Associates Degree, Technical Certificate program or equivalent experience.
  • NFPA 70E Arc Flash certification, required

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience with equipment maintenance in an FDA compliant manufacturing environment.
  • Specific work experience required in use of Vision systems, electrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC, Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and making modifications to Ladder Logic.

 

This position includes significant duties such as:          

  • Coordinates maintenance resources in support of operational priorities. This includes partnering with Supervisors, Team Leads, and Manufacturing Leads.
  • Performs routine changeovers including, but not limited to, lot changes, end of arm tooling changes, and mold changes.
  • Perform proper startup and shutdown procedures on equipment and verification of equipment status.
  • Assist operations team with routine line issues, resets, and restarts. 
  • Completes required preventive maintenance at defined intervals. Routinely assesses the suitability of such intervals and scope covered and revises when necessary.  
  • Trains and mentors other associates within maintenance and operations. 
  • Monitor output quality and quantity; troubleshoot as needed to make necessary machine and parameter adjustments where applicable; and alleviate jams.  
  • Troubleshoots major equipment breakdowns and performs mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance whenever required to ensure uninterrupted customer supply.
  • Utilize all resources including, but not limited to, troubleshooting guides, manuals, standard operating procedures, work order logs to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Provides technical support to engineering team on equipment installations and upgrades.
  • Supports and assists other technicians with troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance (PM), and repairs to equipment as needed.
  • Works with Quality and Engineering to document repairs/changes made to equipment.
  • Supports capital equipment projects [as the subject matter expert (SME) for maintenance] including specification, design input, testing, etc.
  • Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on electrical systems up to 480 VAC.
  • Works with hand tools and/or power tools while troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance (PM), or repairing equipment. Demonstrates safe techniques and proper use of all tools.
  • Uses inventory management systems to obtain replacement parts for corrective/ preventative maintenance, and proactive replacement efforts. Identifies and rectifies any discrepancies in inventory and future order needs.
  • Document all troubleshooting and maintenance activities in appropriate Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Completes production records / forms recording relevant data onto forms or via electronic data entry in Maximo or other systems.  Ensures accuracy and good documentation practices per company and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Maintain clean tooling for extruders, injection molding equipment, assembly equipment, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, inspects, and monitors production and/or facility related equipment and machinery.
  • Supports validations from a mechanical perspective.
  • Complies with safety systems and procedures such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out, NFPA-70 E Arc Flash, spills, and machine guarding at all times.
  • Responsible for hazardous waste removal. 
  • Participates in Kaizen and Lean activities as necessary to drive continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Performs other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and company.
     

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources.  
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including, but not limited to, lab coats, hair/beard covers, gloves, ear protection, eye protection, safety shoes etc.  
  • Exposure to fumes and chemicals such as cleaners, inks, and solvents.  
  • Exposure to high frequency noise.  
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and up to 65 pounds rarely.  
  • Adherence to plant safety requirements, OSHA and QSR/GMP/ISO guidelines as applicable.

The range for this position is ​$35.00 hourly rate - $38.25 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
