Role Purpose

Reporting directly to the Project Manager of Supply Chain, this position involves the inventory control, organization, and maintenance of the plant’s storeroom ensuring efficient and safe material management. Primary areas of focus include materials and supplier management, while supporting their team by taking an active role in meetings, problem solving tasks, team activities, and plant-wide subgroups focusing on the plant goals of safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

Long Description

Description of Work: 

 

  • Monitors daily receipt and open order reports to track order status and checks storeroom emails for vendor confirmations and updates.
  • Processes product and service orders via replenishment or manual entry in PeopleSoft and maintains accurate inventory levels, adjusting reorder points as needed. 
  • Updates purchase order statuses in PeopleSoft, including cancellations, price changes, due dates, and vendor info.
  • Conducts daily cycle counts to ensure >95% annual accuracy, investigates discrepancies, and performs root cause analysis.
  • Obtains pricing, quotes, and availability for MRO and P-card items, resolving shipment issues or service delays with vendors. 
  • Works with procurement to update vendor information in Corning systems like eMDV and resolves problem invoices for timely payment.
  • Supports CAPA investigations, customer complaints, and notifications, offering solutions and communicating feedback.
  • Handles special projects assigned by the Supply Chain Project Manager.
  • Maintains a clean, organized storeroom and ensures compliance with plant safety and environmental rules.
  • Manages inventory records, including cycle counts and adjustments.
  • Work schedule: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM in a 24/7 manufacturing facility.

Experiences/Education - Desired

 

  • Must have strong time management and prioritization skills to work independently, handle multiple assignments, and interact effectively with maintenance, operations, and vendors. Proficient knowledge of spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and word processing tools (e.g., Microsoft Word) is required for preparing correspondence, reports, and communication.
  • A working knowledge of ERP systems and computer/typing skills is essential for accurate input of material information into databases. Candidates must be action-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of influencing without authority. Effective written and verbal communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking are critical.
  • Flexibility is required to take ownership of projects, coordinate team efforts to achieve goals, or support other project leads. The ability to manage conflict effectively is essential. Familiarity with good manufacturing practices and problem-solving abilities is necessary.
  • Preferred qualifications include prior storeroom management experience and knowledge of Continuous Improvement Methodologies, such as lean, six sigma, and 5S.

 

Experiences/Education - Required

 

  • Associate degree in supply chain, business management, or other related field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in purchasing or equivalent in related field
  • Understanding of how a purchase order/receiving system operates

The range for this position is $60,021.00 - $82,529.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
