Purpose of the Position

This position is for a Process Engineer in Corning Bendable Glass business, required a robust background in chemical/or mechanical process. The responsibilities encompass process control, process improvement and new capability deployment to assure successful operational performance of the supply base and meet business need.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Contract Manufacturer (CM) team, identify areas for improvement and drive implementation of solutions.
  • Conduct process improvement experiments and manufacturing studies. Statistics analysis of manufacturing and experimental data to find process upset root causes and appropriate solution.
  • Utilize data analysis techniques to improve manufacturing efficiency, minimize loss, and implement improved processes and new products.
  • Process engineering study and implementation of final products, final inspection, data collection, and quality controls to meet customer specifications.
  • Develop and implement process control plans.
  • Integrate processes into an overall roadmap delivering to required capability cost and capacity.
  • Increase customers’ awareness of process control efforts, methodology and process analysis techniques.
  • Work with research & development teams for new processes and product development and introductions.

Education & Experience

  • BS degree or above in Science & Engineering
  • 5-year above experience
  • Experienced in process improvement.
  • Experience in working with vendor onsite for contract manufacturing operation and management.
  • Global work experience, working across regions and cultures.
  • Experience in display/touch panel manufacturing/cover glass/mechanics is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Fundamental understanding of material finishing e.g. cutting, grinding, extrusion, polishing, washing, coating, lamination, packaging.
  • Ability to perform material failure analysis and defect characterization.
  • Knowledge of process control/process discipline, SPC, DOE, Statistics, DMAIC, MEE, Taguchi and Total Quality methods.
  • Good problems solving and analytical capabilities (particularly statistical analysis).
  • Fluent English communication skill including verbal and written.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, planning, organizing, and relationship building.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, able to work in a diversity team-based environment.
