Scope of Position:

This position is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all plant employees. The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer will help drive continuous improvement in overall environmental, health and safety performance while promoting an interdependent organizational culture.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

The intent of this role is to provide day-to-day support and guidance for Health and Safety programs and processes at the Erwin Manufacturing Complex. Such programs may include:

  • Incident reviews, incident reduction plans
  • Industrial hygiene
  • Emergency response plans
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments
  • Ergonomic assessments
  • EHS Training
  • Control of Hazardous Energy
  • Fall Protection
  • Contractor safety management
  • Provide guidance, leadership, technical support, and auditing for EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in potential problem analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Provide training on policies and procedures to promote uniform compliance regarding safety & health initiatives.
  • Provide project review and oversight for a wide range of construction projects throughout the facility.
  • Coordinate reporting, tracking, and analysis of health and safety incidents.
  • Provide input to help set short (annual) and long term (3-5 year) goals for EHS improvements.

Travel Requirements: You can expect travel less than 5% of the time.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Your typical work schedule will be 8-5pm M-F although you should expect to have flexibility for off shift and weekend coverage is expected to support project assignments including overtime.

Required Education and Experience:

You should a BS in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related subject as well as:

·0+ years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent

·Knowledge of OSHA and other relevant regulations and standards

·Problem solving skills

·Excellent interpersonal skills

·Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

·Excellent presentation skills

Desired Skill:

·Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

·Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

·Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Soft Skills:

Your verbal and written communication skills as well as attention to detail and ability to handle ambiguity will be significant skills for success.
