Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Scope of Position:

Internship within an equipment engineering organization at a ceramics manufacturing site. Intern will work with our team and the maintenance organization to plan conduct and analyze equipment improvements, complete drawings, and be responsible for small projects. The primary role includes drafting, troubleshooting, and equipment improvement activities.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Interface with equipment, process, operations, and other manufacturing support groups on a daily basis
• Under guidance from equipment engineering, lead the agreed upon projects that will enable the facility to meet its goals and objectives for the duration of the internship
• Prepare written evaluations of data collected for use in leadership project reviews
• Create recommendations and/or plans to achieve the stated project goals
• With oversight execute improvement activities identified during the agreed upon project

Travel Requirements: None.

Work Schedule: Typically, M-F 8-5, but some off hours support may be required.

Education Requirements:

  • You should be pursuing a degree as a Sophomore level (or higher) undergraduate in engineering or physical sciences. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is ideal.as well as:

 

Required Skills:

• Ability to perform work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to interact with manufacturing personnel and leadership staff
• Sound problem solving and decision-making skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
• SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD software

• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Mechanical aptitude

Soft Skills:
• Reliable and detail-oriented
• Able to lead small projects of limited scope to completion
