Global Director, OFC Market & Technology Development


Corning is looking for a Global lead for our Optical Fiber and Cable (OFC) business’ Market and Technology Development (MTD) function. The Global Lead will lead the OFC team to champion product innovation & new business development to drive fiber and cable advantaged product from Stage 1 to 5: Discover - Make One that Works - Test Value - Commercialize - Sell Advantage




  • Lead the OFC MTD team to:


    • Leverage deep customer, market, and technology trend insight research to discover product advantage innovation concepts and cross-functionally mobilize the organization to prove innovation potential and capitalize on those opportunities
    • Develop impactful value propositions, trial at customers, and commercialize the new products
    • Support the commercial teams in selling product advantage value to the customer to drive up our margins/revenues


  • Be the techno-commercial bridge that nurtures and strengthens the interface between Commercial and Technology/Research to ensure cohesive new product R&D and expertly aligned industry thought leadership messaging
  • Own and deliver the OFC business’ established annual application event and product road mapping process and associated development of OFC’s annual Research / AR&D / Technology Asks: champion and nurture the bridge into the OCS road mapping process to drive COC solution success: partner with PLM to define the long-range product strategy in line with business and customer needs.
  • Orchestrate and lead the OFC business’ techno-commercial messaging into the industry and proactively uphold Corning fiber and cable thought leadership presence.
  • Set the strategy for and lead the development of strategic industry partnerships to advance Corning’s co-innovation outcomes.






  • Ability to lead and motivate a global team across multiple locations and regions.
  • Possesses an innate ability to analyze market-indicators, technology trends and customer/competitor behaviors to connect the dots across the optical communication industry to identify opportunities for Corning to innovate and win.
  • Champion product discovery, development and commercialization and be an expert in value proposition and business case development.
  • Ability to identify and develop new markets and customer access opportunities for Corning fiber and cable products.
  • Deep understanding of optical communication transmission and fiber physics and be recognized and respected both internally and externally as an industry expert in fiber and cable technology.
  • Skills in external engagement strategy planning and associated customer and partner relationship development.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and inter-business (OFC-OCS-OCO) discussions and processes with peers and leadership to drive effective decisions through active consensus



Travel Requirements:

Up to 40% domestic & international travel, if located in Europe then frequent travel to the US required (typically 6 - 8 trips per year), if located in US then frequent travel to Europe required (typically 4 - 6 trips per year).
