Scope of Position:

This position reports to the Key Account Manager and is responsible for managing the recurring business of Precision Optics products between Corning and a key customer account. 

 

Major Responsibilities (Ongoing Tasks) 
• Lead relationships with all customer’s factories (in Asia, USA and EMEA) and represent Corning within customer organization in all aspects of the recurring business and ongoing production. 
• Maintain frequent contact with the customer to identify, build and strengthen the relationship, continually assess Corning’s effectiveness in meeting the customer’s needs, and ultimately maximize retention and growth of recurring business. 
• Ensure continuous and consistent assessment of customer demand vs Corning’s supply plan; identify gaps and work with operations to minimize them, provide timely communications to the customer, and define work-around solutions. 
• Manage customer interactions in all commercial, operational, and technical aspects supporting existing products, including rescheduling, quality issues, production and supply chain issues, product change requests. 
• Work with cross-functional teams to assess risks susceptible to impact customer commitments and develop and implement mitigation plans. 
• Monitor compliance with ongoing contracts related to delivery, lead times, inventory, pricing, quality; negotiate pricing updates and commercial agreements specific to each product. 
• Develop formal proposals/quotations to support ongoing customer needs related to recurring business. 
• Work with customer’s factories and engineering teams to gain acceptance for the implementation of process improvements and use of new equipment. 
• Propose and implement new or improved processes aimed at maximizing efficiency and revenue, reducing transactional costs, and increasing customer satisfaction. 
• Develop and execute strategies for the efficient and profitable turnaround of product repairs and maintenance. 
• Work actively with Corning operations, engineering, development, and management to represent customer viewpoint and work towards win-win strategies. 
• Provide and maintain short and long term forecast to Corning business unit through deep knowledge of the account; develop understanding of the customer’s end market environment.
 
Qualifications 
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering   Optics concentration / MBA preferred.
• 5+ years experience in a variety of functional groups in Manufacturing Industry
• 2+ years in customer facing role with ongoing customer support, issue resolution and negotiations
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams (operations, engineering, development, commercial) highly desired 
• International business experience desired Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors 
• Prior knowledge of optics, opto-mechanical systems and/or semiconductor process control equipment desired 
• Ability to coordinate effectively with internal matrix functions and both internally and externally 
• Can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups. 
• Dedicated to achieving results and balances personal and professional commitments and time appropriately to do so. 
• Desire to “roll up sleeves” to work directly with customers and internal project teams. 
• Manage business relationships using combination of data driven analysis, strategic thinking, networking and strong interpersonal skills
