The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable.  Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible.

Scope of Position

  • Fairport HR is responsible for 358 manufacturing personnel + another 60 DE + other support staff roughly adding up to ~425.
  • #2 HR person of an HR team of 2 (Manager and this Specialist role).
  • Provide additional HR support to standing HRM for sheer volume of employee relations matters, leaves of absences, hiring challenges, and staffing (all primarily for hourly and contingent labor).
  • Partner with plant leaders and HRM on objectives and initiatives to the business strategy

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive positive employee relations to maintain union free environment
    • Serve as the HR point of contact for 4-5 of the 9 departments in Fairport
  • Ensure compliance with Corning’s Code of Conduct and Corning Values, as well as monitoring and upholding Fairport Plant Policies and Work Rules (i.e. attendance)
  • Take ownership and/or support HR initiatives that vary from corporate, division, plant projects
    • Support Fairport HR Greenbelt Projects, support and lead V2A strategy and initiatives, lead hourly PDR and ASR processes
  • Support and at time lead site hiring and onboarding processes
  • First responder on all things talent/people related and work closely with HRM on findings

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, focus on Human Resources Management or Industrial/Labor relations preferred. Master’s degree and HR certification, a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills for all layers of the organization
  • Ability to lead and promote change and continuous improvement
  • Ability to multi-task daily tactical items with strategic short, medium, and long-term initiatives
  • Self-starter, eager to learn

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen
  • Strong Project Management
  • Strong investigative skills - understands and applies due process

The range for this position is $66,534.00 - $91,485.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
