The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

Scope of Position:

  • In this role, you will enable Metrology manufacturing to meet customer orders involving high precision electro-optical assemblies and components.
  • Direct and prioritize activities of small team of contract and permanent resources.
  • Establish and document manufacturing and service processes and checklists.
  • You will support or lead continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions, and cost reduction projects using lean six sigma practices
  • Working with other team members to tackle difficult technical engineering related problems
  • Support manufacturing with top level assembly and optical alignment work on all products among other tasks.

Education & Experience:

  • We require a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • We are seeking 1-3 years of experience for this role

Travel Requirements:

  • We anticipate minimal travel for this position

 

Hours of work:

  • 40 hrs. M-F, business hours; flexible hours may be required to support off-hours operations on weekends and evenings
