Role Purpose
In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and promoting a culture of quality throughout the plant that ensures product integrity in accordance with customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and Corning standards.
- You will drive continuous improvement in both internal and external quality performance of products and services by effectively utilizing product quality architecture, quality management systems, DMAIC & Lean methodologies, and quality metrics.
- As a member of the plant leadership team, you will share accountability for overall plant performance concerning quality, safety, service, and continuous improvement.
- Additionally, you will provide leadership, development, and coaching within the plant's quality organization.
Key Responsibilities
As Plant Quality Manager, you will advocate for our customers to develop and implement quality strategies and roadmaps that align with division and corporate directions, ensuring product integrity and regulatory compliance. You will champion continuous improvement, manage quality control plans, and coach teams on quality metrics. Collaboration across functions and managing supplier quality will be essential to maintain high standards.
- You will develop, communicate, and execute a quality strategy and roadmap that supports customer requirements and the site manufacturing strategy, aligned with division quality.
- Champion the product quality architecture necessary to prevent and detect quality issues for purchased materials and manufactured goods for the plant. Defined requirements will include form, fit, function, operational safety, and regulatory compliance of the product, packaging, labeling, and any published documentation.
- Establish built-in quality control plans, develop control strategies to ensure the product achieves quality targets, and apply error-proofing techniques.
- Champion performance excellence methods to ensure continuous improvement is evident from product concept to delivery.
- Provide coaching and/or facilitation of methods and tools for establishing metrics.
- Provide leadership for quality management systems to ensure systems are effective and aligned with all customer expectations, corporate requirements, industry-specific standards, regulatory and statutory requirements, covering product concept through customer order to product delivery.
- Handle expectations for validation of new products and processes or validation of changes to existing products and processes where form, fit, function, or regulatory compliance is potentially impacted.
- Ensure suppliers provide the highest quality materials that are ready for use. The scope of suppliers includes providers of raw materials, components, items, packing materials, finished goods, or contract manufacturing.
- As a member of the plant staff, work towards great outcomes for everyone, including solutions within manufacturing and collaboratively across key functional groups such as Commercial, Technology, and Division Engineering.
- Coordinate customer, 2nd and 3rd party audits
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors of Science in Engineering or Science field with Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Optics engineering preferred.
- 6+ years in a manufacturing environment with experience in PCPD, utilizing quality systems, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills for leading a diverse group of individuals and influencing across organizational levels.
- Highly fluent in the use of Microsoft office on line products
- Verified supervisory capabilities in a manufacturing setting
- Created quality systems that followed ISO 9001, AS 9100, or IATF 16949
- Positive, open, engaging, and an effective member of a dynamic team.
- Self-starters who are passionate about engineering, possess a high level of technical curiosity, and demonstrate dedication and flexibility will be recognized.
Desired Experience
- Working knowledge of SharePoint, PowerBI, and SAP

The range for this position is $134,306.00 - $184,671.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
