Title: Plant Supply Chain Manager

Location: Fairport, NY

 

The Advanced Optics division manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial segments that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components, and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.  

 

Purpose of the role:

The Plant Supply Chain Manager manages all Fairport facility material and systems in the supply chain, which includes but is not limited to Planning, Procurement, Transportation, Inventory Control, and leadership of SI&OP processes and inputs. Works proactively with cross-functional teams (commercial, engineering, program management, manufacturing, finance, supply chain, and quality) to deliver business goals. As a member of the Plant staff, sets goals and objectives for workgroup and is a leader within the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage supply chain aspects and sourcing for manufacture of optical components and systems to support operations

• Responsible for the rigorous application and clearly defined systems to drive on time delivery to our customers and on time vendor delivery

• Monitors and predicts inventory levels, utilizing best practices for inventory rightsizing and management

• Ensure communications of vendor related delivery issues, forecast information, MRP weekly execution, and capacity plans

• Assures data integrity, timely order commitment and timely customer communications in terms of delivery, receptive and responsive to customer complaints/concerns

• Responsible for execution of the Master Production Schedule through the collaboration with the commercial organization’s forecasting process and the planning organization’s ERP system

• Optimizes the end-to-end (order to delivery) flow of material, information, and money across the value chains.

• Drives the lean culture to ensure optimal end-to-end fulfillment.

• Evaluates and recommends how to optimize the plant capacity, capability, and cost opportunities within the supply chain to meet customer needs, program requirements, and delivery goals

• Leads the plant SIOP process. Ensures process rigor, demand profile understanding with timely supply response, documentation of assumptions and communication of decisions

• Champion at the plant for development and deployment of the Supply Chain digitalization roadmap including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), or similar

• Creates development plans with direct reports, aligned with business, product, and individual development needs

• Develops short-term supply chain operations plans consistent with long-term objectives

• Insures all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines and local regulations

• Tracks, communicates, and supports key metrics to achieve plant objectives

• Leads cross-functional project teams to drive and deliver cost and service goals

• Creates and executes budget for plant supply chain

 

Performance Metrics:

• Customer performance metrics such as (ship to commit/request, backlog)

• Inventory metrics (turns, days on hand, net inventory $)

• Critical supplier performance and quality metrics

• Sourcing metrics (spend, cost reduction, scorecards, etc.)

• Forecast accuracy and bias

 

Required Skills:

• Strong skills in people management, communication, and interpersonal interaction

• Strategic thinking to facilitate win-win situations, internally, with customers, with suppliers

• Leadership for project management; sourcing, cost reduction

• Knowledge in supply/logistics/manufacturing process and governance

• Supply/demand management

• Quick adaptability to change and able to work under ambiguity to deliver positive impact to business

• Collaborative attitude to work with cross functional teams

• Ensure compliance with export requirements

 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (Technical, Business or Supply Chain)

• Minimum 5 years leadership experience, across multiple disciplines and increasing project responsibility

 

Desired Skills:

• Master’s degree in business or Supply Chain Management

• Professional Certifications in APICS, Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Production & Inventory Manager (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar

• LEAN or Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience

• Experience with Supply Chain Model (Demand Planning, Sourcing, Supply Planning & Execution, Logistics, Network Planning, Contract Manufacturing)

• SAP S/4 Hana Experience and/or experience with ERP transformation
