Role Purpose
The Process Engineer supports optical systems assembly & testing. This role identifies and leads process improvements to reduce cost, increase capacity, and extend capability (variability, cycle-time, complexity, and scrap reduction). They engage the product development team during the development phase through informal and formal design reviews. They are responsible for developing process flow charts, work instructions, process sheets, checklists, forms, and other required documentation. This role provides daily production support to resolve process upsets. They participate in the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) of all new product development. Additionally participating in Manufacturing Risk Assessments and handle Risk Reduction activities. This role works with production teams to evaluate and troubleshoot product returns and advise on corrective actions.
Responsibilities
- Lead new product introductions into the production system
- Collaborate with the estimating team to quote new products
- Collaborate with the commercial team to resolve customer questions
- Collaborate with the quality team to respond to customer complaints and returns
- Assess existing manufacturing capability gaps and recommend development activities
- Perform manufacturing tasks and activities, as trained, and in compliance with work instructions
- Responsible for housekeeping and autonomous maintenance of work area and equipment
Experiences/Education - Required
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Optical Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related degree
- 3+ years of Process Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Dedicated and willing to work off hours to ensure product is completed on schedule
- Able to effectively work with production groups and development engineering
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Performance excellence training and project leadership a plus - Green Belt, Lean, or PQA experience
- Mechanical, Optical, or Industrial Engineering training
- Previous experience in technical manufacturing and process support
- Desire to learn new technologies and become a SME
- We are seeking an aptitude for precision hands-on mechanical skills; experience with assembling close tolerance parts that may have unusual shapes or parameters

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
