Scope of Position:

Create and promote a culture of quality throughout the plant which ensures product integrity to customer requirements, regulatory compliance requirements, and Corning standards. Drive continuous improvement of internal quality and external quality performance of products and services, through effective use of product quality architecture, quality management systems, DMAIC & Lean methodologies, and quality metrics. Provide leadership, development, and coaching to those within your team and within your influence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, communicate, and execute the quality strategy and roadmap, which support the manufacturing strategy for the location and the corporate direction for quality.
  • Facilitate disposition of non-conforming material including risk assessment.
  • Provide coaching and/or facilitation of methods and tools for establishment of metrics.
  • Provide leadership for quality management systems to ensure systems are effective and aligned with all customer expectations, corporate requirements, industry specific standards, regulatory and statutory requirements, covering product concept, through customer order, to product delivery.
  • Handle expectations for validation of new products and processes or validation of changes to existing products and processes where form, fit, function, or regulatory compliance is potentially impacted.
  • Ensure that suppliers provide the highest quality materials that are ready for use. The scope of suppliers includes providers of raw materials, components, items, packing materials, finished goods, or contract manufacturing.
  • Coordinate and support audits, represent customer in the plant, support site regulatory requirement compliance.
  • Promote the product quality architecture necessary to prevent and detect quality issues for purchased materials and manufactured goods for the plant. Defined requirements will include form, fit, function, operational safety, and regulatory compliance of the product, packaging, labeling, and any published documentation of the product.
  • Drive built-in quality control plans, develop control strategies to make sure product achieves quality targets and apply error-proofing techniques.
  • Promote performance excellence methods to ensure continuous improvement is evident from product concept to delivery. Department Supervision Responsibilities:
  • Report Quality metrics, and support roadmaps for implementation/improvement of key elements.
  • Handle functional responsibilities in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, and/or Quality Systems.
  • Ensure growth in talent and capability of your team, including self.
  • Effectively collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Division Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Advocate quality practices and requirements to all departments and functions.

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Discipline (Engineering or Technical Degree)
  • 5-10 years of relevant industry experience with a focus on quality systems, data analysis and continuous improvement.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced Optics experience is a plus.
  • Green/Black Belt Six Sigma/Lean, DMAIC, and ASQC (American Society of Quality Control) certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Internal and external auditing experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively lead a diverse group of people and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills in manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO quality standards.

 

Hours of Work:

  • Typically, 8 am to 5 pm with flexibility required to engage across shifts, conduct training, participate in customer calls, and attend meetings.

The range for this position is  $112,328.00   -  $154,451.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
