Scope of the Position:

This position is responsible for supporting a key account for Corning’s Precision Optics product line, with a focus on new business development in the Semiconductor Process Control application space.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop deep understanding of precision optics products, including critical product specifications, manufacturing processes, and customer integration and use cases
  • Manage customer inquiries related to product change requests and new business opportunities
  • Evaluate new inquiries against existing and future capabilities, coordinating with engineering and development resources as needed
  • Develop and propose strategies to win new designs, in the context of both market share protection and taking share in new application spaces; develop commercial and technical proposals for concept studies, design studies, new technologies testing, equipment acquisition and development efforts in support of Corning’s value proposition
  • Provide support for the account during all stages of new product development.
  • Develop relationships within customer’s engineering, R&D, strategic supply chain and technology sourcing organizations to advance Corning’s position for new business
  • Articulate product attributes, specifications, basis of competition, product trajectory to ensure advantaged products. Requires leading efforts to synthesize and assess competitive technologies or offerings
  • Work in an ongoing manner to understand customer’s product and technology roadmap and summarize itfor internal stakeholders; influence Corning’s own roadmap definition to align with customer needs
  • Work actively with internal operations, engineering, and development groups to represent customer viewpoint and identify win-win strategies in support of optimizing the customer’s total cost of ownership, performance trade-offs, and Corning’s capture of value

 

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% – Both domestic and international

 

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position: 40 hrs. /wk. Monday through Friday; Standard business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) minimum, in an engineering discipline 
  • Master’s degree (MS) or PhD preferred, preferably in Optics or an equivalent discipline    
  • 5+ years of work experience, preferably with customer-facing experience

 

Required Qualifications:

    • Strong fundamental understanding of optics and optical systems OR prior background and knowledge of semiconductor capital equipment
    • Ability to coordinate effectively with internal matrix functions
    • Ability to communicate both internally and externally, verbally and in writing, to all organizational levels and both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time
    • Ability to handle stressful environment and multi-task
    • Desire to “roll up sleeves” to work directly with customers and internal project teams
    • Well organized, process oriented, has systematic approach to problem solving and strong analytical skills in a highly technical and complex environment
    • Able to work independently, comfortable with ambiguity

 

Desired Qualifications:

    • Prior experience involving strategic planning and/or new business development in a high-tech context
    • Knowledge of commercial practices, Intellectual Property, and contract negotiations
