The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. General Duties:

  • Constructing a low volume, with a high mix of parts and tools.
  • Interaction and collaboration with engineering and other plant personnel.
  • Performs manufacturing tasks and activities in compliance with requirements and direction.
  • Interfaces with and update plant systems (e.g., document control, manufacturing execution system, etc.).
  • Maintain schedules and records as required.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and autonomous maintenance.

 

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Working in gage level tolerances.
  • Affable, respectful, and proactive problem solver
  • Experience with mechanics used in optical applications.
  • Use of Metrology equipment, electronic indicators, interferometers.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and autonomous maintenance.
  • Actively engages with continuous improvement and cost reduction programs.
  • Engage and contribute at manufacturing process meetings.
  • 10 years related experience.

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in an optical and machining environment.
  • Experience operating of TRAK DPM RX5 w/ ProtoTRAK RMX or comparable systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and provide feedback on engineering drawings, sketches, and notes.
  • Strong Math Skills.
  • Good written and outstanding oral communication skills.
  • Willing to learn and operate other equipment.

 

Hours of Work:

  • A Shift (6:00AM – 2:30PM) with overtime as needed and required.
  • B Shift (2:00 - 10:30PM) with overtime as needed and required.
  • C Shift (10:00PM – 6:00AM) with overtime as needed and required.

 

Education:

  • NYS Journeyman Toolmaker or comparable qualifications, or applicable trade school training in combination with appropriate work experience.
