Role Purpose
This position is based in Corning Fuzhou plant and is responsible for process engineering support for glass products across glass furnace processing, precision finishing, surface coating, and cleaning processes.
The role is accountable for technology transfer, process qualification, process control, CM process management, and continuous improvement across both internal manufacturing operations and outsourced process steps at Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide process engineering support for the manufacturing of glass products, including glass furnace processing, precision finishing, surface coating, and cleaning.
- Develop and maintain SOP/SOS, process specifications, and other related manufacturing documentation.
- Train operators and support daily production to ensure process compliance, stable output, and consistent product quality.
- Monitor process performance through SPC, data analysis, and routine process control activities to ensure process stability and consistency.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process and quality issues, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure process stability, manufacturing readiness, and product quality.
- Partner with CM engineers and teams to manage outsourced process steps, support capability qualification, and ensure alignment across the end-to-end process flow.
- Lead overall process control and yield improvement across both plant and CM operations.
- Support technology transfer, including process setup, process qualification, product qualification and issue resolution.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives following product launch.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
- 5+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in glass furnace processing is strongly preferred; experience in precision finishing, surface coating, and cleaning is a plus
- Experience in process control, qualification, yield improvement, and problem solving
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and cross-functional teams is preferred
- Experience with technology transfer is preferred
- Good English communication skills
- Strong process control and troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment
- Solid knowledge of SPC, data analysis, and statistical problem-solving methods
- Experience in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Knowledge of process qualification and validation methodologies
- Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

- Knowledge of glass manufacturing-related processes such as glass furnace processing, precision finishing, surface coating, and cleaning
- Ability to communicate effectively in English in a global working environment
