Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assembly Process Technician will be responsible for assisting Engineering with sustaining a high volume production assembly area. T
  • hey will be responsible to update assembly procedures and work instructions, and training production assemblers to these.
  • They will work hand in hand with Engineering on designing new product assembly fixtures and tooling.
  • Must be able to review and disposition discrepant material, and resolve root cause and corrective actions through the use of systematic problem-solving tools.
  • Candidate must have working knowledge (5 years minimum) of assembly, tooling, and methods capable of assembling small precision, tight tolerance parts for aerospace or medical fields.

Duties Include:

  • Lead continuous improvement activity for cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshooting discrepant material and implementing engineered RCCA solutions.
  • Communicating with Engineers and Assemblers to resolve production issues and make changes in procedures as necessary.
  • Must be hands on and support the operations team to sustain high yielding parts.
  • Assist with training Assemblers on new procedures and new products.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the following:

  • Capable of troubleshooting and assembly issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Working knowledge of various inspection equipment and methods including GD&T.
  • Auto Cad and Solid Works experience.
  • Knowledge of assembly tooling and fixturing.
  • Proven knowledge of High School math including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Able to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • 5 years minimum experience in precision assembly or production environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus
