Role Purpose
Corning Advanced Optics is seeking an Assistant Product Line Manager to support the growth, profitability, and execution of our Microwave RF Interconnect business. Reporting to the Product Line Manager, you will independently manage assigned product line workstreams — spanning commercial operations, pricing analysis, customer program management, and cross-functional project leadership — and translate business priorities into completed actions across Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, and Finance. This role requires approximately 30% annual travel to customers and Corning's headquarters in Corning, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned customer and program workstreams from opportunity identification through quoting, development, qualification, and production readiness; maintain milestones, owners, and next steps in Salesforce or designated business systems
- Prepare pricing and margin analysis including product cost, historical pricing, volume assumptions, and competitive positioning; support annual product line planning and long-range financial planning cycles
- Partner with Customer Care, Sales, and manufacturing teams to resolve escalations involving delivery, quality, lead time, and product availability; develop options, confirm commitments, and drive closure
- Lead cross-functional projects supporting delivery recovery, lead-time reduction, capacity readiness, and product line simplification; coordinate commercial priorities for Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) discussions
- Research aerospace and defense programs, customer architectures, competitive products, and market trends; support opportunity sizing, program capture plans, and customer roadmaps for RF interconnect applications including radar, electronic warfare, and communications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, finance, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in product management, commercial operations, program management, finance, engineering, or manufacturing in a technology-driven business
- Demonstrated success independently managing projects, analyzing business performance, and coordinating work across multiple functions
- Advanced Excel and strong PowerPoint skills
- Ability to learn technical product attributes and connect them to customer requirements and commercial value
Desired Education & Experience
- Experience with aerospace and defense customers, RF/microwave products, electronic components, or a comparable engineered-product business
- Experience with forecasting, pricing analysis, margin improvement, and manufacturing or supply chain coordination
- Familiarity with Salesforce, SAP, and business intelligence tools
- Experience with standards or related RF interconnect portfolio solutions
- MBA or relevant advanced degree
