Role Porpuse:
Corning Phoenix is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer for second shift to provide engineering support, optimization, and process development. This role involves troubleshooting processes on the floor, process improvement, and operator training, with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
The individual in this role must possess strong knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and CNC programming techniques. This includes G-code, CAM software, and tooling selection. Familiarity with the practical application of engineering science and technology is essential, particularly in the design and production of precision components.
Employee must understand and comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, as well as Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time technical support and develop, optimize, and validate programs for CNC machining operations. Collaborate with other stakeholders to implement and improve processes, including the training of operators on new SOPs, tooling and fixturing.
- Design, manufacture, and implement custom fixturing and tooling. Maintain accurate records of tooling and fixturing drawings. Analyze data and apply logical reasoning to solve complex machining problems.
- Support engineering projects including experimentation, estimation, layout, and execution. Assist in developing rework and repair routes for Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs).
- Ensure all activities comply with EHS policies and regulatory requirements.
Required Education and Experience:
- AAS or equivalent 2-year technical degree or High School diploma with 7+ years’ experience in machining, CNC programming or related field
- Setup and Operation of Swiss Machining, 4 and 5 Axis Milling, including Fixture, Tooling, and Work holding Design
- Understanding of automation and control systems. Knowledge of G-code and M-code Programming, GD & T, Drafting and Technical Drawing, Technical Writing, Lean Methodology, AS9100 and/or ISO 9001
- MS 365, SolidWorks, Esprit, ERP and MES systems
- Statistical Process Control, understanding of Six Sigma and DMAIC principals, Root Cause and Corrective Action methodologies, Disciplined problem solving
- Flexible and adaptable; willing to work outside of role to move the team forward. Strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
Light lifting effort in a variety of duties throughout finishing areas.
Good working conditions. Some exposure to elements of dirt, dust, odors, noise and wetness, nondisagreeable.

The range for this position is $69,966.00 - $96,203.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
