The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
Role Purpose
Summer engineering intern position to support the research and development of Microwave RF products. This is a dynamic position for an individual to work as part of Corning Advanced Optics’ mechanical design team. Focus will be to work on new designs for RF Microwave connectors, optimizing fabrication and metrology methods.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include mechanical design/engineering, prototyping, new product introduction, design of experiments, modeling / analysis support of RF interconnect designs.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Optical, Manufacturing, or Engineering Science
- Coursework in Mechanical, Optical, Manufacturing, or Engineering Science.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of engineering tools such as Solidworks, ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
- Be willing to work at the posted job location

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
