The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
Role Purpose
Corning Phoenix is seeking a motivated Summer Intern to support various facility‑related documentation and safety readiness activities. The intern will assist with updating site layouts, organizing information, and helping ensure key facility and emergency materials remain accurate and easy to use. This role provides exposure to engineering, operations, and safety functions while supporting important site‑wide improvements.

Key Responsibilities
- Utilize CAD expertise to improve site drawings
- Assist with updating and organizing facility drawings and maps.
- Help review current layouts and documentation for accuracy.
- Support efforts to improve clarity of emergencies and safety materials used across the site.
- Participate in basic on‑site walkthroughs to gather or verify information.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure updates reflect current operations and safety expectations.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Pursuing a Degree in Engineering. Mechanical or Industrial preferred.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Experiences/Education - Desired
- Familiar with drafting using AutoCAD or equivalent software
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Familiarity with statistical tools or process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
- Internship or academic project experience in manufacturing or engineering.

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
