Role Purpose
The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring reliable operation of all equipment, facilities, and systems in a high-volume solar panel manufacturing plant. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manages troubleshooting and repairs, and leads a team of skilled technicians. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a commitment to safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations: Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime. Monitor production machinery, automation systems, and testing equipment for reliability.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to extend equipment life and reduce costs. Recommend upgrades and improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Lead diagnostic efforts to resolve technical issues quickly. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and coordinate rapid solutions to minimize production impact.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor maintenance technicians, ensuring proper training, skill development, and effective task delegation.
- Budget & Resource Management: Manage maintenance budgets, labor allocation, spare parts inventory, and procurement of tools and services while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices. Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
- Facility Management: Oversee plant utilities, HVAC systems, lighting, and general facility upkeep. Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze maintenance performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize equipment efficiency and support new projects.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
- Proven experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems; proficiency in CMMS.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and best practices.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Master of Science (Engineering or Technical)
- Familiarity with solar panel manufacturing equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control
- Knowledge of manufacturing excellence tools (AME, KT, Lean)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and maintenance-related continuous improvement strategies.
- Experience with renewable energy systems and technologies.
- Certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or CRL (Certified Reliability Leader).
Work Environment
Manufacturing plant setting with occasional exposure to noise, high temperatures, and machinery hazards. Close attention to safety and detail is essential.

The range for this position is $134,504.00 - $184,943.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
