Job Summary & Functions:

The purpose of this position is to provide advanced setup, troubleshooting, and technical expertise to the Plating and Parts Wash departments. The Level III Plater operates and oversees automatic equipment that conveys metal objects through cleaning, rinsing, and plating solutions, ensuring the objects are plated to precise specifications. This role involves performing quality inspections, supervising plating operations, and resolving complex issues to ensure compliance with company standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Thoroughly understand, implement, and communicate policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and consistently on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with operators to solve advanced machine repair and troubleshooting issues.
  • Lead efforts to ensure safety and quality standards are upheld in the work area and on equipment.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with supervisors regarding plating process challenges and solutions.
  • Prepare and calibrate all process equipment for plating operations.
  • Monitor and maintain chemical levels on the plating line by following the chemical add sheet from the chemical lab, recording data, and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from MSDS labels for various chemicals.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on plating line equipment to resolve major operational issues.
  • Oversee and execute the placement of parts in automatic and semi-automatic plating process baths for cleaning, rinsing, drying, and chemical application to meet specifications.
  • Make critical computer program adjustments to ensure continuous and optimal operation of the plating line.
  • Conduct detailed quality control checks on plated surfaces, ensuring adherence to strict plating application standards.
  • Operate hand and full-size forklifts safely and efficiently to transport pallets of parts to designated areas.
  • Calculate surface area for plating and assess coating thickness using x-ray equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Rework non-conforming plated parts using advanced chemical applications and processes.
  • Maintain proper inventory and organization of chemicals, supplies, and equipment, ensuring readiness for operations.
  • Promote and enforce safety and quality standards through effective housekeeping practices on equipment and work areas.

 

Working Conditions:

Frequent average lifting on a daily basis.

Exposure to elements such as chemicals, oils, noise, and wet conditions, which may be moderately disagreeable.

 

Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

 

Experience:

3-5 years of plating experience required, with demonstrated proficiency in advanced troubleshooting and technical plating processes.

The Level III Plater is a highly skilled position requiring a detail-oriented individual with strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, mechanical aptitude, and a dedication to maintaining safety and quality standards. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of plating processes and the delivery of high-quality finished products

The range for this position is ​$24.00 hourly rate - $28.50 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
