JOB SUMMARY & FUNCTIONS
The Maintenance Technician provides diagnostic and repair services for manufacturing equipment, to include but not limited to 5th axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, precision grinding equipment, and all auxiliary equipment found in a typical machine shop. Should be able to perform facility repairs and have understanding of complex electrical circuits, controls circuits, HVAC systems and Utility systems.
The purpose of this position is:
To identify a Maintenance Technician that can quickly learn how to troubleshoot new equipment and respond to urgent maintenance needs of any kind. Must possess excellent time management skills, allowing them to coordinate complex maintenance tasks in the most efficient manner possible and direct the workload for the teams. Must be able to train and develop Level I & II technicians to develop and advance to the next level. They are also strong communicators that can interact with other stakeholders in regard to status of equipment.
This position includes significant duties such as:
- Knowledge of OEM machine controllers (FANUC, Siemens, and Mitsubishi)
- Perform mechanical repairs on all machines (Star CNC, Citizen, Tornos Deco, DMG Mori, and RoboDrill)
- Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws
- Working knowledge of tool Probing function for CNC Mill Machines
- Able to work with complex production machine up to & including 5 Axis
- Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines
- Identify and replace parts as necessary
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls
- Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
- Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work
- Work based on a sense of urgency with machine down conditions
- Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Utilize manual toolshop lathe, mill, and grinding equipment to fabricate repair parts as needed
- Advanced knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, welding and other facilities related skills
- Complete all maintenance related paperwork such as work order completion, lock out tag out forms, PMP records, and material requisitions.
- Maintain safety and quality standards by using acceptable housekeeping practices on equipment and work area.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to train other maintenance technicians as needed
- Perform other essential duties as assigned by management
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Proper safety precautions, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), must be followed as dictated by the job and work environment.
Additionally, on a typical day you could potentially perform any of the following:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. above the waist and carry heavy objects
- Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery
- Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
- Access any area of the equipment to perform necessary maintenance, including inspecting and performing work in, on or under parts of the equipment
- Safely and effectively operate lift trucks and manual lifting equipment in the process of installing, modifying, or repairing industrial equipment
Education:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience:
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Minimum of five years’ experience in performing maintenance of CNC machines
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance work instructions, and procedure manuals

The range for this position is $26.50 hourly rate - $30.25 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
