Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

The purpose of this position is:

  • Primary function is to provide leadership and troubleshooting assistance to all manufacturing shop areas.
  • When not operating in a leadership capacity, operate in general manufacturing role.
  • Perform quality inspection of finished components throughout the process.

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Follows up on work assignments on a daily basis, reviews production requirements and determines how to fulfill.
  • Completes production reporting
  • Initiate feedback on team to supervisors
  • Understand and communicate policies, procedures, work instructions.
  • Read and interpret prints, routings, layouts, and related documents to produce component parts that meet design specifications in order to satisfy company quality standards.
  • Check work within close tolerances and inspect component parts to print using micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, plug gauges, comparator, etc. throughout the process.
  • Complete necessary paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Works with department leads and operators to solve complex machine repair and troubleshooting problems.
  • Responsible for safety of all areas and quality standards on equipment and work area.

  • Frequent physical effort in handling light material and hand operations.

Education:

  • 2 year Technical College Education or Equivalent

Shift:

  • 1st shift Hours

Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience in a Manufacturing Lead Role, 2 as a specialist
