Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

  • Process engineering support in a pilot manufacturing facility focusing on semiconductor-MEM’s wet etch processes.
  • Develops, implements into production, and sustains wafer cleaning and wet etch processes using automated and semi-automated equipment
  • Assists in the specification of process equipment
  • Executes and supports continuous process improvement activities for quality, cost and capacity using validated lean-six sigma methods.
  • Author and implement process control plans with outputs monitored using SPC and other tools as appropriate.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Project lead for wet etch process development activities
  • Owns processes in a volume manufacturing environment
  • Responsible for process performance metrics
  • Requires Effective Communication with all Engineering disciplines; Processing, Equipment, Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety, ensuring production readiness in support of meeting schedules/deadlines.
  • Implements process control plan and monitors process output via SPC charting or other mechanisms as applicable. Analyzes process output data and lead continuous improvement programs to improve process capability and capacity as needed
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts and ensure processing issues are prioritized and resolved with opportune timing.
  • Responds to production issues, and drives to root cause in a timely manner
  • Responsible for attending shift pass down information meetings


Travel Requirements (please note if international): Minimal (10-15%)


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Standard 40-hour work week.


Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

  • BS/MS degree in engineering (or closely related discipline) and 3 years minimum experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the following:
  • Coursework in semiconductor manufacturing, and/or clean room/ fab work experience is desired.
  • Prior experience in a semiconductor or MEMs fabrication facility with process ownership in an HVM or pilot line environment.
  • Experience as a leader-contributor in meeting continuous improvement goals, process improvements, leading innovation, and expanding technical capability.
  • Experience coordinating with functional teams to achieve daily metric goals


Required Skills:

  • Ability to work in the class 100 cleanroom 50 – 70% of workday
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills at operator, engineering and management levels
  • High degree of discipline with the ability to multi-task multiple process operations simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions


Desired Skills:

  • Previous Hazardous communications/materials coursework and on the job precautionary safety ppe-personal protective equipment necessary for handling hazardous materials; HF and other etch chemistries.
  • Batch Level Automated Cassette Processing at a mid to high manufacturing capacity
  • Efficient at Multitasking
  • Good interaction with processing technicians/operators addressing and resolving process issues, flags or other concerns in a timely manner
  • Experience working with all facets of Manufacturing Operations; Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance, Production and Engineering Management, Integration Engineering, etc.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, greenbelt certification
  • FMEA, 5 Why, Fault Tree or other structured problem-solving mythologies
  • Mini-Tab, JMP, Matlab or advanced excel skills
