Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Leader for our Department of External Manufacturing in EMEA. This position requires an individual with a strong understanding of contract manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.      

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Supervision and Management: 
  • Supervise all aspects of project management for external manufacturing in the EMEA region and globally. 
  • Ensure projects/programs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. 
  • Lead project planning sessions, set project goals, and assign tasks to team members. 
  • Detailed Project Planning and Assignment: 
  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress. 
  • Assign project tasks based on staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels. 
  • Utilize project management tools and techniques to manage project timelines and deliverables. 
  • Project Tracking and Reporting: 
  • Track the progress of projects/programs. 
  • Maintain project documentation and prepare comprehensive reports. 
  • Conduct regular status meetings and update stakeholders on progress. 
  • Project Execution: 
  • Execute project plans and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve Project issues and remove barriers to project success. 
  • Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance project execution and efficiency. 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field or a similar/comparable qualification 
  • Experience as a project and/or program Leader in manufacturing 
  • Knowledge of contract manufacturing, supply chain management, and quality control 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong project management skills 
  • Team management abilities 
  • Proficiency in project management software and MS Office 
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Willingness to travel to meet with manufacturing partners 

Work Environment:

This role may require occasional travel within the EMEA region as well as globally, to meet with external manufacturing partners and inspect project sites. 

The position is based in a standard office environment, with some flexibility for remote work.
