Trade Compliance Manager EMEA (m/f/d)
Overview/Scope of Position:
This position will lead the Regional Trade Compliance organization for Corning Optical Communications Business. This individual will deploy Trade policy & procedures defined by the Trade Compliance COE and/or Regional EMEA Trade Compliance Management. The deployment of these policies and procedures will ensure that Corning Inc is compliant with global customs authorities. This person will champion trade compliance initiatives to ensure operational stability across the business.
Purpose and Major Responsibilities of Position:
- Interface across business & regional leadership while acting as an integral part of the business teams to ensure global trade compliance policies and procedures are aligned and integrated with business operations.
- Develops business trade compliance strategy, incorporating knowledge of industry, costs, capabilities, and market conditions and at the same time, ensuring alignment with other strategies such as the business supply chains and commercial strategies, Global Supply Management (GSM) functional strategy, regional GSM strategies, and the global trade compliance strategy.
- Responsible to govern and monitor Country of Origin determination & valuation for the business.
- Monitor regulatory changes, customs rulings and court decisions pertaining to those regulations in order to take appropriate action to benefit Corning’s interests.
- Respond to inquiries from businesses on regulatory impacts & requirements.
- Responsible for any correction of non-compliance found through corporate auditing.
- Assures proper risk management strategies are in use to ensure compliance with import/export requirements in cost effective manner.
- Determining most advantageous duty rate or special duty savings program (drawback) to reduce total landed cost.
- Drives to streamline and optimization customs clearance process to reduce overall lead-times in cooperation with the businesses.
- Escalation points with businesses and brokers for timely imports, timely classification of products.
Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Trade Compliance or customs experience.
- Experience in Trade Compliance Import/Export with supervisory experience as Team Lead or Project Manager.
- Extensive experience working in SAP GTS (preferred).
- Experience with SAP ERP systems (desired).
- Experience with customs in EU and other EMEA countries.
- Fluency in English, oral and written. German language skills are desired, any other language is a benefit.
- Knowledge in HTS Classification, Export Compliance and Foreign Trade Agreements.
- Experience in leading organizations within various areas of trade compliance.
- Experience in a business operation role.
- Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross functional team.
