Scope of the Role:
Sheet glass process management for 1 to 3 production lines including leading all activity related to achieving process objectives, identifying sources of variation, improving processes, and providing support for product developments and line startups.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues
- Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
- Use rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build fundamental understanding for key process steps
- Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations
- Develop and maintain systems to monitor and proactively address equipment issues and process performance
- Receive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed
- Recommend and implement improvements to processes and equipment
- Lead and/or support projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new technology migrations into the plant
- Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
- Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes
- Work with other team members and departments to ensure that product output at each process step meets or exceeds manufacturing budgets and goals
- Demonstrate subject-matter expertise of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing and engineering
- Execute cost reduction and PEx projects (DMAIC/DESIGN) in line with business objectives
- Develop and use project plans and timelines to achieve project goals without sacrificing safety, intellectual property, or quality
- Lead and support data collection, analysis, and usage that drive improvements in process and/or equipment capability, reliability, and quality.
- Engage with SMEs and peers across the wider Corning technical organization to solve problems, share knowledge, and influence technical strategy in the BOD process area.
Work Hours:
• Standard hours (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm).
• Flexible hours may be required to support off-hours experimentation on weekends and evenings.
• This position requires periodic weekend team coverage.(Maybe onsite or on call as needed)
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelors or Master's in Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Glass/Ceramics or Chemical disciplines preferred)
• 0-3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)

- Ability to demonstrate fundamental understanding through science and engineering skills

- Ability to use the scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively
- Ability to translate engineering solutions to process requirements that deliver and/or improve performance criteria
- Experience with experimental design
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
- Results oriented and high commitment
- Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC / DESGN) methodology
Desired Skills:
- Experience in glass manufacturing
- Broad skill set in mechanical engineering principles & systems
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification
- Lean Manufacturing techniques
Soft Skills:
- Personal initiative and commitment; positive attitude, flexible, and strong work ethic
- Organized with good planning and time management skills
- Ability to build relationships within cross functional groups; team building skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to allocate/supervise resources to accomplish goals

The range for this position is $70,776.00 - $97,317.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
