Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.


Scope of Position:

  • To provide electrical & controls support for the TOD (Top of Draw) melting and forming production processes.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • The position involves working with Process and Controls Engineering in the application of electrical and controls concepts to identify, design and implement continuous improvement / cost reduction projects. Daily production support involving troubleshooting, problem solving and working with the equipment maintenance organization will be required.


Role within group:

  • Rebuild Support, Production Support, Project Support, and TOD Electrical & Controls


Support Projects:

  • Rebuild, continuous improvement and cost reduction projects as well as first generation projects for the Harrodsburg Plant.
  • Projects will involve IFIX SCADA, software, OSI PI, Rockwell CLX controls, Servo/VFD applications and/or electrical power solutions.



  • We require a BS EE or BS EET degree with equivalent experience
  • We are seeking 2+ years of experience
  • PLC/DCS/SCADA Programming Interest / knowledge
  • Low Voltage Power systems (600V and below) Interest / knowledge
  • Ability to solve difficult process problems and determine root cause through process experimentation and data analysis.
  • This is a functional position that requires strong technical curiosity, leadership skills (specs, scopes, budget, timeline, etc.), and the ability/desire to learn as well as train others.
  • Ability to plan upfront, communicate issues, and execute solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Works well with other areas (process, mechanical engineering) and providing/receiving direction.
  • Strong Written and Verbal Skills.


Desired Skills:

  • IFIX/RTP/OSI PI and VBA and/or Structured Text Programming knowledge/experience
  • Rockwell CLX, Servo, and VFD systems
  • Working knowledge of Matlab / Simulink
  • Controls/Electrical Experience in Manufacturing
  • Broad skill set (first principal design to implementation/installation)
  • Working knowledge of 480V and below 3 phase power systems including National Codes (NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.)
  • AutoCAD

Travel Requirements:

  • We anticipate less than 10% travel for this role. Domestic and international travel are not common but can occur in this job. Rare international travel may be required.


Work Hours:

  • Workhours are M-F 08:00 to 17:00 with 1 hour for lunch
  • 24-hour production support on an emergency basis
  • The plant has eight weekend teams that rotate coverage (six or seven weekends per year, including one major holiday or one to two minor holidays)
  • Extended hours, including weekends, are required during start-ups or special projects
