Role Purpose

Provide electrical/controls engineering with desire to work with and support a broad range of electrical and controls engineering projects and equipment.  This individual will support both manufacturing controls (PLC’s, Motor Drive Systems, Sensors) as well as facilities/process power systems such as low and medium voltage power distribution systems, SCR power controllers, transformers, etc. Additionally, opportunities will be introduced as a support role in the Batch house electrical/controls engineering.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Provide operational support and maintenance of manufacturing controls and power distribution system
Maintain plant Autocad single line diagrams and process prints
Identify best fit locations for new power loads and coordinate safe installation of power related feeders
Maintain updated Easy Power model, Arc Flash Labels and Breaker Coordination
Support plant as NEC, NFPA 79, NFPA 70B NFPA 70E expert
Support plant electrical safety initiatives
Support electric melting power systems to include transformers, power metering devices such as current transformers and potential transformers, power regulating SCR’s, VFD’s, 3 phase motors and servo systems as well as melting control system PLC’s, sensors and field control devices.
Daily production support involving troubleshooting, problem solving and working with the equipment maintenance organization in a union environment will be required
Support Projects

 

Travel Requirements:  Less than 5% travel for this role. Domestic and international travel are not common but can occur in this job.

 

Workhours are M-F 08:00 to 17:00 with 1 hour for lunch
24-hour production support on an emergency basis
The plant has weekend teams that rotate coverage (including one major holiday or one to two minor holidays)
Extended hours, including weekends, are required during start-ups or special projects

Experiences/Education - Required

  • BS Electrical Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering Technology degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or equipment building environment.
  • 5+ years of Process Power & Control Engineering experience

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Strong basis of electrical engineering knowledge, technical curiosity, leadership skills (specs, scopes, budget, timeline, etc.), and the ability/desire to learn as well as train others.
  • Exposure to GE MV PowerVac and various 480V switchgear, (Oil, Air and Water Cooled) transformers, Square D I-Line 480V switchboards and panelboards, MCCs, Bus Ducts, and UPS systems.
  • Exposure to CAT Gensets and Russ Electric ATS systems.
  • Experience using Meggers, Hi-Pot testing, various voltage/current metering, test devices, voltage detectors, and hot sticks.
  • Experience managing projects, including electrical projects, leading field support teams during the installation and checkout of new technology and designs.
  • Exposure to working with VFDs and motor drive systems.
  • Experience with batch houses, material mixing and transportation facilities.
  • Broad skill set covering first-principle design to implementation/installation of electrical systems.
  • Exposure and/or desire to work with voltages up to and including 12.47KV, 3-phase power systems, including sizing circuit breakers, wire, and transformers.
  • Working knowledge and compliance with National Codes and Standards (NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79) and a passion for working safely.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to understand and draft electrical schematics and develop panel layouts.
  • Ability to solve complex process problems and determine root causes through experimentation and data analysis.
  • Experience includes IFIX SCADA, Contrologix PLCs, RTP PLCs, OSI PI Historian, VBA, and/or Structured Text Programming.
  • Completed Circuit Design, Power Systems, and Programming related courses.

The range for this position is $105,070.00 - $144,471.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
