Role Purpose
The selected intern will collaborate closely with Corning’s manufacturing and engineering teams to support the design, optimization, and implementation of electrical systems and processes that drive our manufacturing excellence. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work with cutting-edge electrical systems and manufacturing processes in a world-class facility.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to design, implement, and optimize electrical systems and components used in production.
- Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving electrical and control system challenges on the manufacturing floor.
- Support the development, review, and maintenance of electrical documentation, such as schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Conduct root cause analysis of electrical issues in manufacturing systems and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Participate in the installation, testing, and calibration of electrical systems to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards.
- Assist in the integration of automation, sensors, and control systems to improve manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and implement improvements to electrical systems that enhance production efficiency, reduce downtime, and maintain product quality.
- Ensure compliance with Corning’s safety and environmental policies, as well as relevant industry standards and codes.
- Take part in cross-functional projects aimed at improving manufacturing workflows and processes.
- Deliver a professional presentation summarizing project outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations to facility leadership at the end of the internship.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Junior standing or higher preferred.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
- Enrolled in an Engineering or a Computer Science and Engineering program
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Required Skills
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including circuit design, power systems, and control systems.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, workflows, and production systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address manufacturing challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems, testing tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes), and manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, or process improvement frameworks.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial automation, or robotics.
- Experience with industry-standard software tools, such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of industry standards and electrical safety codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
