Role Purpose

Corning Incorporated is seeking a motivated Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Intern to assist with the implementation and support of EH&S programs at one of our manufacturing sites. The selected candidate will work closely with the EH&S Department to plan, conduct, and execute initiatives that enhance the site's environmental health and safety standards, reduce EH&S risks, and foster a culture of safety.

This position offers the opportunity to actively contribute to EH&S programs, participate in audits, and provide process improvements. The internship is structured to provide hands-on learning and development, culminating in a presentation to facility leadership summarizing key accomplishments and contributions.

This internship is part of Corning’s broader Intern Program, designed to cultivate a strong pipeline of talent for future entry-level roles. Candidates must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university and meet the required academic and skill qualifications outlined below.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the EH&S Department and other manufacturing support teams on a daily basis.
  • Lead and execute agreed-upon projects aimed at achieving the facility’s EH&S goals.
  • Evaluate EH&S risks and develop recommendations or action plans to mitigate identified risks.
  • Support the development and implementation of EH&S program and process improvements.
  • Conduct and participate in EH&S audits to identify program gaps and evaluate risk levels.
  • Assist with incident investigations and corrective/preventative actions as required.
  • Gain hands-on experience with EH&S tools and systems utilized in manufacturing environments.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Junior standing or higher is preferred.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with manufacturing personnel and support staff.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Attention to detail and reliability in task execution.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
