Scope of Position:

  • This individual will be directly involved with engineers and operators related to the glass handling process and equipment
  • Assist Engineering Dept. Heads and Engineers with achieving process objectives, identifying sources of variation, improving processes, and providing support for product developments.
  • Responsible for line specific day-to-day operation and executing a small scope continuous improvement or learning opportunity.
  • Work reviews with plant leadership will occur mid-summer and end of summer.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues
  • Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations
  • Recommend and implement improvements to processes and equipment
  • Lead and/or support projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new technology migrations into the plant
  • Work with other team members and departments to ensure that product output at each process step meets or exceeds manufacturing budgets and goals
  • We are looking for candidates with a strong level of technical curiosity and deliver creative solutions to technical challenges.

Requirements:

  • Pending Junior or Senior in Engineering Major (preference for Mechanical, Electrical, or Material Science majors)
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27th – July 31st, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location.

  • Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC / DESGN) methodology
  • Process engineering skills (quantitative skills, coursework in engineering statistics or other statistical training, technical writing, ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers and managers)

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
