Job Title: Financial Analyst II

Role Purpose:

Assists in performing accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements

Collects and analyzes data on financial and/or operational metrics and performances

Compiles data and prepares basic trend analysis

Executes routine, ad hoc analysis and reporting to support business unit objectives and business partner relationships

Executes transactions for period closing process under the direction of the APC/PC; including preparation and posting of journal entries, follows SOX procedures, and assists with post close reporting and department spend reviews.

Supports cross-functional projects and helps coordinate key communication activities Key Responsibilities:

Assists in period closing process; including preparation and posting of journal entries, variance analysis, and accuracy of the general ledger

Supports compliance with internal and external controls, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, GAAP accounting principles, and Corning policies and procedures

Assists in maintaining and updating plant standard costs

Assists with preparation of the annual budget

Prepares monthly account reconciliations

Ensures inventory is in compliance with Corning's policies for valuation

Ensures that Sales transactions match billings booked (includes working with International partners for validation)

Monitors spending and works with department managers to control costs. Researches and provides detail on expense variances

Supports plant leadership and business partners to drive process improvements

Supports financial analysis related to capital projects, cost reductions, and other initiatives as required

Provides ad-hoc financial analysis for APC/PC and Plant Leadership

Metal Custodian – primary responsibility for Plant metal transactions/inventory and support Platinum shop as needed



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Experience working on cross functional teams to solve complex business problems.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience Desired:

Desired Skills:

  • CPA/CMA.
  • MBA.

Required Skills:

  • GAAP and cost accounting
  • Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all aspects of the business, including plant staff and senior managers.
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint, general ledger systems & forecasting tools
  • Ability to act under pressure in fast-paced environment

Desired Skills:

  • Working experience with PeopleSoft, SAP, Khalix, Power BI
  • Performance Excellence knowledge (Six Sigma, lean processes)
