Role Purpose:
As part of the Division Quality - Metrology group, to lead metrology tech transfer from R&D to production lines, and provide leadership in problem solving and technical expertise in metrology area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead metrology projects from concept through implementation to support R&D-to-manufacturing transfer and production readiness, including metrology planning, gauge development, system qualification, deployment, and production release.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including QA, engineering, manufacturing, software and controls teams to implement robust measurement solutions.
- Develop metrology strategies for Victoria Rebuilds and Forge platform in terms of gauges capability, capacity, lead time, and cost evaluation, etc.
- Survey, develop, deploy and qualify new capable gauges, and measurement systems to meet the new test requirements relating to critical product characteristics including glass defects, glass size, weight, reliability, optical performance, mechanical characteristics, and other critical product attributes.
- Design, improve, and validate new test methods using existing metrology systems. Support the design and development of fixtures and tools used in metrology systems.
- Develop measurement data reporting, traceability, usability, data analysis applications when deploying new gauges or new test methods and continue improvement afterwards. Partner with controls and software engineers to develop operator interfaces, data collection systems, and databases that support effective use of measurement systems.
- Documentations on gauges’ engineering or operational work instructions; summarize measurement systems development and qualification reports.
- Train users and provide technical support for deployed metrology systems.
- Provide metrology technical leadership in 2nd-level troubleshooting metrology issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable corrective actions for plant gauges.
- Metrology governance - Lead and drive gauge alignment, and metrology standardization including MSA across internal plants, contract manufacturers, and customer sites as needed.
- Evaluate current gauge capability and capacity, and drive continuous improvement, governance, and long-term metrology capability development.
- Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with flex hours for projects
- Travel: 30% - 40% Domestic and International (Includes Asia and Europe)
Experiences/Education - Required:
- Bachelors degree required -Metrology, Precise Instruments, Optics, Machine Vision, Physics, Materials and Science, Automation and Mechanical Engineering field.
- Knowledge of metrology – calibration traceability, data uncertainty, gauge qualification types, etc.
- 5 years of Engineering experience with Metrology, and 2 years of supervisor or leading projects experience
- Knowledge of MSA
- Familiar with MS office tools
- Familiar with Minitab/Origin
- Familiar with Matlab/Python
- Basic statistics and reporting capability
- Good communication skills
Experiences/Education - Desired:
- Master degree desired
- Familiar with Machine Vision is a plus
- Working experience in a test lab or glass defects inspection system development is a plus

The range for this position is $131,667.00 - $181,043.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
