Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
Overview:
We’re seeking a hands-on, people-focused Mixing Shift Supervisor to lead a team on a 12-hour rotating shift. You’ll provide direct supervision in the Mixing Operations area, ensuring daily targets for safety, quality, delivery, and cost are met while strictly following plant procedures, policies, and documentation requirements.
What You’ll Do
Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise, coordinate, and coach Mixing Operations employees during your assigned shift
- Assign tasks, monitor work, and drive accountability to safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics
- Manage timecards, attendance, and personnel matters; conduct performance reviews and support development plans
- Provide clear communication, timely feedback, and maintain positive employee relations
- Apply policies and labor agreements consistently and fairly
Safety and Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture and model Corning Values
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Enforce standard operating procedures and change-control processes
- Maintain process discipline and protect Corning IP
- Participate in safety initiatives and continuous reinforcement of safe behaviors
Operations Management
- Oversee batch mixing, cullet crushing, material unloading, experiments, and training activities
- Ensure operations run within approved process setpoints and documented procedures
- Monitor production performance and ensure shift targets and schedule commitments are met
- Prioritize tasks for your team and coordinate with other supervisors for smooth shift transitions
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and lead improvements across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity
- Apply Lean and Performance Excellence tools (e.g., Lean, DMAIC, DESGN)
- Support introduction of new processes/equipment and cost-reduction projects
- Integrate new technologies with appropriate controls, documentation, and communication
Collaboration and Communication
- Build strong working relationships with cross-functional support groups
- Communicate shift status, issues, and key metrics to leadership
- Participate in cross-functional activities, problem-solving, and tier meetings
Work Schedule
- Schedule: 12-hour rotating shift; flexibility required to meet manufacturing needs
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering discipline strongly preferred)
- 0–3 years of manufacturing or engineering experience preferred

The range for this position is $63,086.00 - $86,743.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
