Role Purpose

Define and implement improvements within operations, including operational excellence, increased technical skills, training, safety projects and performance gains. Drive rigor and support for operations in the form of documentation, communication and change management. Monitor OEE and quality metrics amongst all areas with a focus on performance visibility for operators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure operators follow procedures and address knowledge gaps.
  • Coordinate with Shift Supervisors for consistent execution.
  • Roll out training programs to improve operator proficiency.
  • Collaborate with Plant Engineering to integrate new technologies.
  • Analyze OEE data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Highlight engineering gaps and prioritize solutions.
  • Promote Process Control and Process Discipline practices.
  • Lead cost reduction, Lean, and Process Excellence projects.
  • Build strong relationships with Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams.
  • Represent Operations in planning, meetings, and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop operational tools and documents.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Junior standing or higher.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Be interested in working for Corning after graduation if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location: Harrodsburg, KY
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
